Often, when you join a Facebook group, or most any online group for that matter, you don’t ever meet many (or any) of the members in real life.

Maybe that’s why we were so curious about the LAS VEGAS BEER & BREWERIES, which now boasts 5,000 members. After discovering the group on Facebook, we joined, not really even taking into consideration that we might actually meet people. We just knew the group was about, well, Las Vegas beer and breweries. That was enough to get our interest.

So when the announcement of their upcoming celebration of 5,000+ members at The PINT in Las Vegas on July 18th flashed across my screen, we knew we had to check it out.

From the group’s Facebook page:

We all love Las Vegas and we all love beer. This is the site to share what is happening with beer and brewing in the world’s most exciting city. This group is the official site for the 777 Chapter of the Brewery Collectibles Club of America. Join us live or online and let’s enjoy some great brew!

A.D. Cook and Ken Swanson

And we’re glad we went. Our visit was great. We made new friends and ran into a few folks we already knew, too. First and foremost, we met Ken Swanson, founder of the group who tells us “It’s all about supporting local.”

We also had the opportunity to meet Nick, owner of The PINT, which is a craft beer-centric sports bar with an impressive two dozen draft beers on tap. We couldn’t help but take notice of their menus of traditional American foods and craft pizzas, which complemented their beer selection nicely.

All-in-all, a great experience. We’re already looking forward to meeting more members and exploring new places in Las Vegas. Until then, cheers!
